What it is

An org chart shows how a company or a team is put together: who leads which group and who reports to whom. This one runs from the top down with connectors, so when you move a box the lines move with it.

When to use it

  • For onboarding, so new people know who does what
  • When you plan a reorganisation or new hires
  • To show a client who their contacts are on a project

How to run it

  1. 01

    Start at the top

Put the head of the company or team in the first box, with name and role.

  2. 02

Add one level at a time

Add the direct reports under each lead and connect them. Finish a level before you start the next.

  3. 03

    Group large teams

For a team with many people, use one box with the team name and its size, like "Engineering (8)".

  4. 04

    Keep it current

Update the board when someone joins or moves, and share the link instead of sending a PDF that goes out of date.
