Ideation
Mind map template
A central topic with branches and sub-ideas, laid out left and right for reading.
What it is
A mind map puts one topic in the middle and branches ideas out from it, each branch with its own sub-ideas. It is the quickest way to get everything out of your head before you decide what matters.
When to use it
- Planning a launch, an event or a talk
- Mapping what you already know before you start research
- Breaking a big goal into parts that different people can own
How to run it
- 01
Name the centre
Write the topic in the middle shape as a short noun phrase, like "Product launch".
- 02
Add the main branches
Add four to six branches for the big areas. This template uses audience, channels, pricing, risks, launch day and after launch.
- 03
Grow the sub-ideas
Add notes off each branch and join them with connectors. The connectors stay attached when you rearrange things.
- 04
Pick what to act on
Colour the ideas worth doing, then copy them into a kanban board or a roadmap so they turn into work.
