Prompt Board vs Conceptboard, for small work teams that want a free plan

Conceptboard is a whiteboard from Germany, built for companies and public bodies that have to answer for where their data sits. Its pricing table puts every plan in German data centres, and it holds ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018 certificates. That table gives the free plan 3 active boards with 100 objects each. Its terms of use offer a free platform "for personal use" and a paid one "in teams and closed user groups within the scope of commercial use". This page is for small teams at work that want a free whiteboard and don't need certified hosting in Germany. If you do need it, this page will tell you to stay.

Conceptboard details come from Conceptboard's own pages: pricing, terms of use, data security, on-premises, product, features and release changelog, and its help centre. We read them on 3 November 2026. We have not tried a free account or asked Conceptboard how it applies its terms. Those terms (last modified 8 May 2024) say the German version prevails, and it offers the free platform "für den privaten Gebrauch". The help centre's plan names (PRO, Premium, Business, Enterprise, Education) differ from the pricing table's, so rows quote them as written. Where the two disagree, the row gives both with the date of the help article. Where a row names no plan, we found none on those pages. Prices are in euros, before VAT. Check Conceptboard's pricing page before you decide.

Pick Prompt Board if

  • You're a team at work and want to stay on a free plan. Conceptboard's terms offer its free platform "for personal use" and a paid one for teams in commercial use. Prompt Board's terms set no such limit
  • You want more than 3 active boards without paying. Prompt Board's free plan has no board limit and each board holds up to 5,000 objects, where Conceptboard's pricing table gives you 3 active boards with 100 objects each
  • You want the AI to draft a board, a flowchart or a mind map from a sentence, up to 20 times a day per person. Conceptboard's pricing, product and feature pages list no AI

Stay with Conceptboard if

  • Your data has to stay in Germany or on your own servers. Prompt Board's database runs in the USA, and you can't host it yourself
  • Procurement asks for ISO certificates, single sign-on, audit logs or an EVB-IT contract. We have none of them
  • You run workshops with voting, a timer and live moderation, all from Starter in its pricing table. Or you want a chat on the board, which its help centre says is "available to all users on the same board", or video calls, which it says are "only available to our PRO users"
  • You plan work on the board with tasks and want Jira or Azure DevOps tickets there too. Its help centre offers those two to "all PRO teams, Enterprise customers and On-Prem solutions"

Our take

If your data has to stay in Germany, stay with Conceptboard. Its pricing table puts every plan in German data centres, it holds ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018 certificates, and larger customers can run it on their own servers. Prompt Board's database is in the USA and we hold no certificates, so we would not pass that review. Conceptboard also has voting, a timer and live moderation from Starter, video calls that its help centre limits to "PRO users", and chat and tasks on the board. We have none of those.

Prompt Board is for a small team at work that wants a free whiteboard. Conceptboard's terms of use (last modified 8 May 2024) offer its free platform "for personal use" and a paid one "in teams and closed user groups within the scope of commercial use". Its help page on removing a user (edited 22 July 2026) says that user is "downgraded to a free non-commercial license". We don't know how Conceptboard applies this wording, so if your team works on Free, read the terms. Prompt Board's terms set no such limit. The free plan has no board limit, each board holds up to 5,000 objects, and the AI drafts a board from a sentence up to 20 times a day per person. Conceptboard's Starter plan costs €5 per user a month and lifts its 3 active boards and 100 objects, so weigh that price against the workshop tools and integrations you would give up.
