Lesson plan template
Learning goal, warm-up, main activity, practice and exit ticket for one lesson.
What it is
A lesson plan sets out what students should learn in one lesson and how the time is spent. This board runs from the learning goal through a warm-up, the main activity and practice to an exit ticket, a short question at the end that shows what students took away.
When to use it
- When you plan a single lesson or a workshop session
- To share a plan with a co-teacher or a substitute
- To reuse a lesson next year and change only the parts that did not work
How to run it
- 01
Write the learning goal
One sentence that starts with a verb and says what students can do by the end, like "Explain evaporation".
- 02
Time each stage
Add the minutes to each frame title and check they add up to the length of the lesson.
- 03
Plan the activities
Add a note per activity and list the materials you need on the same note.
- 04
End with an exit ticket
Ask one question students answer before they leave. Their answers tell you where to start next time.
