Meetings
Daily standup template
One row per person with yesterday, today and blockers, readable in under fifteen minutes.
What it is
A daily standup is a short meeting where each person answers three questions. What did I do yesterday? What will I do today? What is in my way? This board gives everyone a row, so the team can fill it in before the call and read it in a few minutes.
When to use it
- For a team that works in sprints and meets every morning
- For remote teams in different time zones that post updates instead of meeting
- When standups run long and blockers get lost in the talk
How to run it
- 01
Give everyone a row
Write each name in the first column. Keep the order the same every day so people know when it is their turn.
- 02
Fill it in before the call
Ask everyone to add their notes five minutes before you start. The meeting is then a quick walk through the board.
- 03
Spend the time on blockers
Read the Blockers column out loud. Anything that needs more than a minute becomes a follow-up for the two people involved, after the standup.
- 04
Reset for tomorrow
Move today's notes into Yesterday and clear the rest, so the next standup starts clean.
